The client operates in the logistics and supply chain industry, utilising MAM Kerridge, a powerful ERP system widely used in automotive and parts distribution, alongside Linnworks, a leading inventory and order management platform. Their goal was to streamline inventory and dispatch operations between these two systems, ensuring stock accuracy and efficient order processing.
The client required a 3PL integration between MAM Kerridge and Linnworks - but with a twist. Instead of a full order download, they only needed dispatch files to be sent from Linnworks to MAM Kerridge while keeping stock levels synchronised across both platforms.
However, as development progressed, new obstacles emerged:
→ Shifting requirements
The client changed their expectations multiple times, requiring adjustments along the way.
→ Technical roadblocks
Linnworks' standard tools lacked the necessary functionality to complete a key part of the integration.
→ Urgency for solutions
A critical feature encountered issues during testing, forcing a quick workaround.
To meet these challenges, we engineered a custom integration that:
✓ Sends dispatch files from Linnworks to MAM Kerridge while bypassing unnecessary order downloads.
✓ Imports stock updates from MAM Kerridge into Linnworks, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
✓ Triggers stock status updates when inventory in Linnworks falls below a certain threshold.
During testing, a critical issue surfaced with one feature. Given the urgency, we swiftly implemented an alternative solution that worked seamlessly. Meanwhile, Linnworks’ limitations required a workaround, leading us to raise a support ticket while simultaneously developing an in-house fix.
After multiple iterations and adjustments due to evolving client expectations, we reached a finalised, agreed-upon solution that successfully integrates the two systems. Testing is now in its final stages, and the workaround for the Linnworks limitation is underway.
Development completed. Testing phase ongoing. Final fixes made due to client’s changing requirements. Workaround in progress for Linnworks limitation.
→ Adaptability is key
Client requirements can change, and solutions must be flexible.
→ Not all platforms have out-of-the-box solutions
Custom workarounds are sometimes necessary.
→ Rapid problem-solving ensures smooth progress
Urgency led to an effective alternative when a critical feature failed.
