The cases of DPD integration with APIs aren’t new because DPD (Delivery Parcel Distribution) is a worldwide recognized delivery service that can boast about its speed (from 24h to 72h), geo coverage (from local to intercontinental delivery), and a wide range of senders and recipients. However, to expand its policies to new markets, the company addressed Patternica to integrate DPD with the Romanian API. For this purpose, we built the shipping integration with Linnworks, and this way, made the user’s order management within one system possible. From now on, the DPD customers can choose the services, decline orders, and publish labels in just a few clicks.
As the outcome of building an API shipping integration, our client achieved quicker order management from different channels: Amazon, Dunelm, Edge, DPD, etc. What’s more, only a few seconds are necessary to process it instead of hours of manual work. At the same time, DPD users obtained the ready multipurpose functionality, which allows them to book the time for delivery, cancel the order, or make some changes to it. All in all, we expect that after this renovation, the integrated shipping services provided by DPD will win customer loyalty even more than before.
To get this DPD integration job done, Patternica involved one Project Manager and one Developer. Relying on the vast knowledge of shipping systems and Linnworks behind our backs, we knew what exactly to do and fulfilled the API integration task in 1.5 months after the client’s approval. Thus, this time was fully spent on developing and implementing the API integration between DPD and Linnworks.
This project expanded our knowledge about shipping systems, though we had been proficient in this area. Though the task of building the shipping integration with the help of API wasn’t new for us, we needed to overcome the challenge of working with a huge API. That’s why a lot of our experts’ time was devoted to digging deep and learning all the technical details of the client’s API. From now on, Patternica’s team is ready to implement API integration for different API countries in a shorter time.
